Apologies Bleeding Through

I'm sorry I hurt you
That I made you face palmed on the edge of your bed
wondering why we weren't beside each other.
I see you sitting there, trying to pace your breaths
I'm sorry your lungs caved in
that you held your breath then cried
as your rivers tumbled to rock bottom
where you lost your footing
and fell to the floor where we used to rest
and laugh at the stars
I'm sorry you used your hand to wipe away
the weeping crystals from your eyes
the same hand that used to guide and hold my own,
the one that I let go
I'm sorry that your fingertips keep running through your hair
when they used to run through mine
to rhythm of the raindrops crashing on the tin roof
I'm sorry you can't stand
as your knees are shaking violently
while you plead for God to mend your broken insides
I'm sorry you wandered all alone
to a lush green field where we once glowed and sang
a place where sunlight touched your face
when you picked a daisy and placed it in my hair
I'm sorry about your clock
that's been smashed against the brick wall
of the farm house we shared our first kiss in
I'm sorry the seconds fell away
when you waited for me to come back home again
I can't believe I left you in this place
and fed you to the dark
I'm sorry I killed the light in your eyes
and how all of our memories rest in pieces
buried deep inside the earth
Heaven will never fix this hell I abandoned you in
I'm so sorry I broke your heart
That I made you face palmed on the edge of your bed
wondering why we weren't beside each other.
I see you sitting there, trying to pace your breaths
I'm sorry your lungs caved in
that you held your breath then cried
as your rivers tumbled to rock bottom
where you lost your footing
and fell to the floor where we used to rest
and laugh at the stars
