Daddy

Daddy, You feel I abandoned you
No room in the true hall of God
But in truth you drove me away
With all your lack of recognition
And your message too
Daddy, you are a sheep,
Your heart a wayward lamb
And all your sons are goats
Who refuse to hear you
Blackened Sun, how hack at your feet
The relentless pivot of my stainless sheets
God damn you, all at once
In every man
Hand in hand
I have cursed myself to let you die
Alone
No matter where you go
You’ll never have me
But I will always have you
I hope death comes for you
When the day comes when you,
Surrounded by your gentle cult
Call out to me
And I will heed your call
Just to see your sad, shriveled face
I will take in your sadness
But I will not take it to heart
You may say, “I’m dying, please forgive me”
For I can just as easily forgive you your trespasses
As I can a puppy for shitting on my carpet
And I will say to you in turn,
“You died a long time ago”
No room in the true hall of God
But in truth you drove me away
With all your lack of recognition
And your message too
Daddy, you are a sheep,
Your heart a wayward lamb
And all your sons are goats
Who refuse to hear you
Blackened Sun, how hack at your feet
The relentless pivot of my stainless sheets
God damn you, all at once
In every man
Hand in hand
I have cursed myself to let you die
Alone
No matter where you go
You’ll never have me
But I will always have you
I hope death comes for you
When the day comes when you,
Surrounded by your gentle cult
Call out to me
And I will heed your call
Just to see your sad, shriveled face
I will take in your sadness
But I will not take it to heart
You may say, “I’m dying, please forgive me”
For I can just as easily forgive you your trespasses
As I can a puppy for shitting on my carpet
And I will say to you in turn,
“You died a long time ago”
So sad, vulnerable and raw.
This is great writing.
I got this.
Great write. This is it. Perfection
thank you, Poet Mistress! vulnerable is right. I felt insecure about this poem, but feel validated by your comments. Thanks!
